FROM THE OBEDIENT MODEL TO SENSITIVE AND COLLECTIVE WRITING – EPISTEMOLOGICAL ISSUES AND ACADEMIC WRITING IN CONTEMPORARY TIMES

Abstract

This study, which presents itself as an article, is the result of discussions about the epistemological character of academic work, in general, but specifically in language studies – and here directed to Applied Linguistics, in a curricular component on research methodology, and writing, offered at PPGLL-UFAL, in 2022. It aims to problematize the foundations of the science of observation, cartesian-positivist, its epistemological shocks and its new directions, in a post-abyssal sense. However, the main intention is, under such reflections on contemporary scientific production, specifically in the social and human sciences, to question academic writing, in order to provide solutions for the obedient text model. We aim, therefore, to provoke concerns that encourage the authorial voice in the production of academic texts (so demanded by evaluation boards), or, at least, frenzies that lead to an enunciative whisper. The study is relevant in the context of difficulties in scientific writing that are so narrated and told in the universe of undergraduate and postgraduate courses. We discussed with Moita Lopes and Fabrício (2019), Perrotta (2004; 2022), Ribeiro (2021; 2022) and Santos (2001; 2008; 2010), among other studies. Finally, we point to the need and viability of sensitive and collective writing in academic work, in the production of research in Applied Linguistics, under emerging scientific parameters.
