Abstract

Discussions about the epistemological perspective adopted by researchers in the field of educational research have become a recurring theme given the complexity found in the knowledge construction process, as well as in the researcher's choice and positioning in relation to his or her object of study. The objective of this article is to understand positivism, phenomenology and Marxism as philosophical currents, indicating their contributions, weaknesses and limits in research, placing the continuing education of teachers as an object of study. The research that gave rise to this article has a qualitative approach, of a bibliographical nature, with a critical-reflexive perspective. The results indicate the existence of potentialities and subsidies that allow qualifying the investigations and support the debate on the theme presented, thus corroborating with the production of knowledge, from different intersections, interlocutions and interfaces of each philosophical current.
