Nursing management in the hospital environment and the challenges for the professional practice

Objective: to analyze the management of nurses in the hospital environment and the challenges for professional practice. Method: qualitative study, carried out in January 2014 in an Urgency and Emergency Hospital, with 19 nurses, in a municipality in Paraíba. Semi-structured interviews were used as a data collection instrument, submitted to content analysis, thematic modality of Bardin. Results: resulting in three categories: Nursing management in the light of the Professional Practice Law; Dimensioning the team and valuing nursing work; and Permanent education. It is highlighted the difficulties faced by nurses in their work process related to the inadequate dimensioning of nursing professionals. Conclusion: nursing management in the hospital environment focuses on professional practice, presenting itself as a complex and multifaceted phenomenon, imbricated in a fabric of political, ethical, legal, institutional, professional and human relations that affect the nursing care process.
