Objective: To verify the association between NANDA International nursing diagnoses (ND) and their clinical indicators in critically ill patients during the COVID-19 pandemic. Methods: Descriptive, retrospective and quantitative study. The sample consisted of 60 medical records of patients admitted to a reference intensive care unit for COVID-19 in Pernambuco from August to October 2020. Data collection occurred by filling out the form referring to ED indicators for care to patients with COVID-19 in critical condition. Data were analyzed using descriptive and inferential statistics. The study was approved by the Research Ethics Committee with opinion number: 4,199,128. Results: The NDs Ineffective airway clearance, Risk of aspiration, Deficit in self-care when dressing, Ineffective peripheral tissue perfusion and Dysfunctional response to ventilatory weaning were significantly associated with some of its clinical indicators. Conclusion: It was found that five diagnoses showed significant statistical associations with their clinical indicators. In this way, the identification of NDs and the association with their indicators generate support for qualified and individualized care for critically ill patients with COVID-19.
