REFLECTIONS ON THE PERFORMANCE OF RURAL WOMEN IN THE CONSTRUCTION OF FOOD AND NUTRITIONAL SECURITY IN BRAZIL

The objective of the article was to reflect on the performance of rural women in the context of Food Sovereignty and Food and Nutritional Security in Brazil, observing the challenges and advances of their practices in contemporary society. In consequence, the research brings a qualitative approach, as well as, it refers to a theoretical research, where it was used for its accomplishment, the methods of documental and bibliographical research. The study highlights that gender equality in the countryside is fundamental to achieving Food and Nutritional Security, therefore, it is necessary to strengthen the organization of rural women and create public policies that guarantee equal access to resources and services, encouraging their political and social participation. In addition, it is concluded that recognizing and valuing the role of women as guardians of traditional knowledge, promoting the exchange of experiences and the rescue of ancestral practices in the management of natural resources, is essential for the construction of sustainable and fair food systems, where progress can be made towards a country that is fairer, healthier and free from hunger.
