Uma análise da interpretação de Geoffrey Hodgson, Ha-Joon Chang e Richard Nelson sobre desenvolvimento econômico

The article aims to analyze the main theoretical contributions elaborated by three authors with a strong influence on contemporary heterodox thinking on development, namely: Geoffrey Hodgson, Ha-Joon Chang and Richard Nelson. It is known that their scientific researches has distinct theoretical and methodological characteristics, however this diversity contributes to the interdisciplinary interpretation proposed in this survey. The researches they have developed has important complementarities that contribute to interpret complex theoretical and historical aspects that intersect in the explanation of the theme. This is the key purpose of this article. It is proposed that institutions play a fundamental role in the dynamics of economic activity insofar as they shape – and are shaped – by the behavior of agents, thus affecting the economic, social, cultural and technological foundations of economic development. The main conclusions are: i) the coevolution of this set of factors constitute the essential elements for development, since society is conceived as a complex organism that evolves from changes that occur in an environment in constant transformation; ii) the interconnection between these authors’ approaches establishes fundamental theoretical elements for an evolutionary institutionalist interpretation of economic development..
