About the Journal

The Journal of Nursing of the UFPI (REUFPI) is an online journal, edited and financed by the Graduate Program in Nursing - Nursing Department of the Federal University of Piauí (UFPI). Its first edition was published in 2012, and currently it is granted CAPES Qualis-Periodic B4 (2013-2016). It is among of the 50 most cited journals in Ibero-america according to the Ranking Citacion Cuiden and uses the Digital Object Identifier (DOI®).

The journal's mission is disseminate scientific knowledge and professional practice in nursing and other areas of health, through the publication of empirical or theoretical manuscripts, focusing on international dialogue.

From 2020, REUFPI began to adopt the rolling pass system and accepts manuscripts in Portuguese, English and Spanish. It is intended for the publication of original manuscripts of research, review, experience report, reflection paper, clinical trial and review protocols and letters to the editor, once they meet its publication standards. Notice that published manuscripts in preprints platforms will be accepted for submission.

REUFPI is published in the electronic version and follows the Open Access Policy. It offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that free scientific knowledge access provides the democratization of the scientific knowledge worldwide.

REUFPI adopts the Double-Blind Review system as a method of evaluation of manuscripts, preserving the anonymity of the authors and evaluators.

Committed to the principles of ethics, REUFPI follows the Code of Conduct and Best Practice Guidelines for Journal Editors, the Guidelines of the Commitee on Publication Ethics (COPE) and the recommendations of the National Research Ethics Commission (CONEP). Therefore, original research carried out in Brazil must comply with the guidelines of Resolution Nº. 466 of December 12th of 2012 and Nº. 510 of April 7th of 2016.

REUFPI is also committed to principles of ethics and scientific integrity, therefore condemns Plagiarism. All manuscripts submitted to REUFPI will be analyzed by CopySpider® anti-plagiarism software.

The abbreviation of the journal title “Rev Enferm UFPI” is recommended for bibliographic citation purposes.  

Frequency

From 2020 onwards, REUFPI adopted the continuous flow system (rolling pass).

Free Access Policy

This is an open access journal, which means that all content is freely available at no cost to the user or their institution. Users are authorized to read, download, copy, distribute, print, search or link to the full texts of the articles, or use them for any other lawful purpose, without the need to obtain prior authorization from the editor or author. This journal offers immediate free access to its content, following the principle that making scientific knowledge freely available to the public provides greater worldwide democratization of knowledge. We add that the use of information published by REUFPI must respect the copyright of the authors.

Archiving

This journal uses the LOCKSS system to create a distributed filing system among participating libraries and allows them to create permanent journal archives for preservation and restoration. 

Creative Commons

The contents of this open access journal in electronic version are licensed under the terms of an unported Creative Commons Attribution 3.0 License, which allows: to copy and redistribute the material in any media or format; adapt, transform and build with the material for any purpose, even commercially, provided that the credits and source are mentioned.

The copyrights are the exclusive property of Revista de Enfermagem da UFPI, transferred upon the "Declaration of Responsibility and Assignment of Copyrights" upon submission of the manuscript.

Manuscript qualification strategy

Manuscripts submitted to REUFPI must comply with its editorial policy and instructions to authors, which follow the EQUATOR Network, Uniform Requirements for Manuscripts; Uniform requirements for manuscripts submitted to biomedical journals of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.

The REUFPI requires that, in order to publish randomized experimental studies, they must be registered with the Brazilian Registry of Clinical Trials (REBEC), as required by the World Health Organization (WHO) and of the International Committee of Medical Journal Editors.

REUFPI, in its search for improvement in the presentation of the results of scientific studies, has adopted the following validated international protocols: CONSORT - for randomized clinical trials, PRISMA - for review studies, STROBE for observational studies in epidemiology, COREQ - for qualitative studies and CARE - for case reports.

Publication costs

REUFPI will not charge fees to authors. However, the authors are responsible, when the article is approved for publication, for paying for a review of the Portuguese language, translations of titles and abstracts into English and Spanish. They must provide in accordance with the guidelines of the REUFPI.
