Perspectives
Aiming to enhance quality, the Editorial Board of REUFPI has been implementing actions aligned with the demands of Open Science and the best practices in scholarly publishing, focusing on the following perspectives:
- Reorganization of the team of Associate Editors, incorporating specialists in strategic areas of nursing and health—such as digital technologies and artificial intelligence—from various regions of Brazil and Latin America, with the aim of expediting the peer review process and expanding the international reach of the journal;
- ursuit of greater international visibility to attract authors, readers, and reviewers from other countries;
- Indexing in high-visibility digital libraries such as SciELO, and in databases like PubMed Central;
- Translation of the journal’s website into English and Spanish, making it trilingual, as well as the translation of articles into Spanish, since the journal already publishes in English and Portuguese;
- Improvement of the website’s visual experience and usability, considering the best practices for authors, editors, reviewers, and readers;
- Expansion of social media outreach and increased visibility of studies published in REUFPI through knowledge translation initiatives within a university extension project;
- Strengthening REUFPI within RedEdit (Latin American Network of Nursing Journals) to achieve continuous qualification;
- Structuring a front-desk team responsible for the initial screening of manuscripts, aiming to reduce the time between submission and editorial handling by associate editors;
- Maintaining the journal’s open-access model without fees for authors, through the pursuit of funding, the collaboration of members from the Graduate Program in Nursing at the Federal University of Piauí, and the support of professionals affiliated with external institutions.
