O modelo dialógico da aquisição de linguagem e da gênese do self em Charles Taylor

Abstract

This article analyzes the thesis on language acquisition in Charles Taylor's book The Language Animal—The Full Shape of Human Linguistic Capacity. It initially proposes a contextualization, within the hermeneutic tradition, of the author's interpretation that humans are “linguistic animals.” From this introductory contextualization, we present the book's general thesis on the constitutive dimension of language. Next, we explain how the ontogenesis of language occurs from the sphere of “we,” or what Taylor calls “communion.” Finally, we show how, in Taylor's work, the genesis of the sense of self is intrinsically linked to the ontogenesis of language.
