Abstract

this article intends to make an analytical comparison between the theories of rational choice and polyarchy, as known in the founding texts of Anthony Downs, Mancur Olson and Robert Dahl. The hypothesis to show is that there is an important theoretical correspondence between both perspectives concerning their assumptions about human nature in general and the political agent’s behavior in particular.
