Abstract

This article has the objective to carry out a study on the use of emotions and discursive formations of political groups inside the conversations about the electoral system on Twitter for the 2022 presidential elections in Brazil. This electoral contest was marked by an intensification of debates on digital platforms regarding the credibility of the electoral process, which fueled significant political instability. Were analyzed Twitter posts on the topic during the period from September 25 to October 8, 2022 in Brazil. This electoral contest was characterized by intensified debates on digital platforms concerning the credibility of the electoral process, which generated significant political instability. We analyzed Twitter posts on this topic from September 25 to October 8, 2022. The data analysis followed three steps: identification of the most shared messages and automated classification of profiles' political leanings; categorization of emotional appeals; and examination of discursive frameworks employed by support groups for the two main candidates.
