The study aims to address the theme of education from the perspective of the renowned economist, philosopher, and social reformer, Adam Smith. The text is divided into three central parts. In the first part, we seek to explore the issue of education through the philosophical lens present in Smith's work, which is based on the discussion of the importance of education experience for the learning of good moral sentiments as essential elements for both individual and societal development. In turn, the second part focuses on Smith's economic discussions regarding topics such as the relevance of education, its adequate provision, and ideal forms of education financing. The third section lists the main educational policies implemented in Brazil during the early 21st century and assesses them from the Smithian perspective. The objective is to treat the dimension of education comprehensively, just as Smith did, and based on his contributions, consider and evaluate its interconnected aspects with social and economic foundations.
