The culture of the papangus is part of the cultural manifestations of the municipality of Beberibe-Ce, and its itineraries include festivals that energize the practice in the communities during Holy Week, especially in the district of Sucatinga, which has two main festivals on this itinerary, the Lagoa Funda festival and the Cumbe festival. The subject of this work is the Papangus festival in Cumbe, with the problem being the dialog between a Christian religious event, Holy Week, and a secular popular event, the Papangus festival. The aim was to understand the performances and scripts of the Papangus festival in Cumbe and how they dialog with the Christian holiday of Holy Week. It also aims to understand the link between popular festivals and religious events through the performances of the Papangus and the scripts developed during the festival. The method used was qualitative, with insertion within the festival in 2023, mainly to observe the scripts that make up the event, giving priority to the action of experience as a way of analyzing the studies of performances, also taking into account a bibliographical research, having as reference the concept of social and aesthetic drama.
