Primórdios da ética ambiental
A busca pelo Santo Graal do valor intrínseco da natureza mais que humana

A partir da década de 1970, os primeiros passos da ética ambiental foram marcados pela rejeição do antropocentrismo profundamente arraigado na filosofia canônica, e pela busca por um critério adequado de fundamentação do valor intrínseco da natureza mais que humana. Este artigo retoma as diferentes alternativas representadas pelas éticas animalistas, éticas biocêntricas, éticas ecocêntricas e éticas ecosféricas, apontando seus principais argumentos e bibliografia básica. A seguir, partindo dos trabalhos de John Rodman (1995), Robyn Eckersley (1992) e Warwick Fox (1990, 1994), mostra como estes diferentes posicionamentos podem ser vistos em um espectro, em íntima relação com diferentes correntes do pensamento ecologista.
