Abstract

Issues related to the environment are gaining increased relevance in the word. Climate change has caused increasing problems in various parts of the planet, in urban areas, which is why studies on the variables that directly affect the change in the temperature and urban microclimate have increased, since such alterations imply thermal Comfort, or lack of it, of the population and sometimes in health. From this perspective, this article aims to analyze in the Years 2014, 2018 and 2021 the relationship between the Land Surface Temperature (TST) and the NDVI vegetation index (Normalized Difference Vegetation Index), associated with land use, in the municipality of Campo Maior, in the north of the State of Piauí, seeking to understand the relationship and its influence on the spatial distribution of the hottest areas. The NDVI maps showed values between -0,31 and 0,90, while the temperature maps showed values between 36°C and 42°C. With the generation of thematic maps, it was found that the NDVI values are related to the TST, since places with lower IV have higher temperatures, which affects the thermal comfort of the population.
