This paper article will reflect on relative surplus value, aiming to demonstrate that, due to its own internal dynamics, its production becomes increasingly difficult. To this end, the determinations related to the production process of surplus value will be presented, according to Marx's exposition in Book I of Capital. Furthermore, based on the German philosopher's conclusion in Book III of Capital that the global mass of surplus value is distributed among individual capitals according to the principle of the average rate of profit, it will be argued that the condition for the realization of the accumulation process of individual capitals, over time, is the expansion of this global mass of surplus value. Since one of the main methods of increasing the mass of surplus value is the production of relative surplus value, it follows that the growing decline in the production of relative surplus value makes the accumulation process increasingly difficult.
