Abstract

The text aims to situate and reflect on the notion and function of the concept of solidarity in Arendt, based on constant mentions in On Revolution. Solidarity does not appear as a central or lateral theme in her reflections. For this reason, based on some indications, we seek to understand how solidarity can be interpreted and operationalized in the light of the indications in Hannah Arendt’s works. The approach to solidarity focuses on the philosopher’s notion of the public sphere, even though the dynamics of solidarity can be identified in the private sphere. Finally, a somewhat authorial proposal is made to make solidarity more dynamic from the perspective found as one of the elements in the re(new)foundation of the public sphere.
